The 5-Principles and Practices of Healing from the Core are essential to grounding and healthy boundaries. They help individuals feel supported in life, listen to their internal guidance, and find guidance for self-care. Our bodies have innate wisdom that can help us heal from a myriad of injuries, trauma, and disease, as well as making day to day life easier to traverse. Healing from the Core helps people find and maintain a real connection with their own bodies, and thereby find access to the Wisdom that each of our bodies has.
Healing From the Core (HFC) was developed by Suzanne Scurlock, a long time Certified CranioSacral practitioner and Upledger teacher, over twenty years ago through her own deep knowing and experience as a craniosacral therapist. Scientific studies, especially in regards to how the body experiences trauma, now support what Suzanne developed intuitively. Research by Bessel van der Kolk, Gabor Maté, Peter Levine all confirm - the body holds the key to growth and healing as we learn to listen and trust its wisdom.. HFC helps people learn how to be more present in their bodies, listen to their innate body wisdom, create and maintain better boundaries in life, and feel more energized.
A Healing From the Core Session starts with a short meditation to help you be more grounded and present during the session. It will introduce you to what sensations your body is actually experiencing instead of the all too common state of being unaware of most of what's going on at any given moment. Once you're fully present, we will clarify what you would like to focus on during your session. Then you can relax on the table, fully clothed (except for shoes and belts), while I gently touch and/or hold areas that need attention, both on the back of your body (for which I will reach under you), and the front of your body, and sometimes both at the same time. And, as with all work we do together, you have the option of stopping at any time.
We can address physical discomforts, emotional challenges, and things like anxiety. No matter what you choose to work on, you will get up from the table relaxed, calm, present, and ready for the rest of your day.

A growing body of scientific research supports what healers have known for generations – our body’s wisdom holds the key to our well-being and soul’s growth. Through the core embodiment practices of Healing from the Core, I can assist you in getting back in touch with your body’s wisdom.
Listening to Your Body’s Wisdom
Our deepest soul wisdom resides in the cells of our bodies. Our bodies hold the memory of the life we are living – including its joys, sorrows, trauma, challenges, successes and heart aches. Ignoring these experiences puts our health and well-being in peril. With the principles and practices of Healing from the Core, we can move deeper than our mental narrative, discovering new levels of understanding, healing and opportunity for ease and joy. Through the core embodiment practices of Healing from the Core, I assist you in learning how to become more grounded, present and attuned to your body’s innate wisdom.

When we connect deeply to ourselves with curiosity and compassion, we are able to access our body’s wisdom. The body’s wisdom can inform us of what is needed for healing. This empowers us to find our own individual solutions to issues affecting our health and well being.
All aspects of our health can be improved with this healing approach. We can release the energy blockages of stress, injury and trauma that cause pain, tension or other physical symptoms. We can clear stuck or trapped emotions that limit our ability to feel joy or create meaningful relationships. Outdated beliefs and perceptions can be shifted to allow for reducing stress, finding hope, understanding and deepening our relationships, finding forgiveness, finding a new way to look at and respond to a situation. When we connect to who we are at a deep level, we align with our deepest desires and purpose, and transform our lives.

During your sessions, we will collaboratively explore your body’s physical signals to access your body’s wisdom. Remember, your body leads the process. I may offer to support an area of your body with my hands, or with 'energy hands' to allow a physical or energetic shift. I may ask gentle questions to help bring awareness to, and help you navigate, your inner landscape, or to help you gain more clarity to what’s presenting. The goal is for you to feel empowered at the end of each session.

Of course, significant shifts can happen in one session, or even in an instant. But, more often, healing is
Many people initially need some ongoing support in order to gain the skills to deeply connect and understand the language of the body, and to work through the layers of what caused their dis-ease or has kept them stuck.
The pace of healing is unique to each individual. Until we have had a few sessions during which we can discover your individual pace, I cannot reasonably predict how many sessions you will need. To this end, I offer individual sessions, but strongly encourage a 3 month individual healing program to ensure that you have the time and support needed to transform your initial challenges and make significant shifts towards your goals for well-being on all levels.
